Train the Trainer with Gentle Passage Doula Collective

By Kathleen Putnam and Bonnie Blachly

In an era where compassionate care at life’s final stages is more significant than ever, Gentle Passage Doula Collective (GPDC) is thrilled to be a part of the transformative movement. Our innovative Train the Trainer Program is specifically designed for those who are passionate about elevating end-of-life care in their areas of work. This initiative not only breaks new ground in education and practice but also forms a bridge between traditional healthcare environments and holistic care approaches. This is all to lend clarity on how to make end-of-life transitions for all environments and reduce suffering for everyone.

At GPDC, we understand the value of comprehensive care that extends beyond the clinical. Our partnership with home health agencies, hospices, senior living facilities, hospitals, and caregivers is central to filling the gaps in care as life progresses. Through this collaboration, we forge human connection along with professional expertise, into environments where compassion fatigue is a daily reality. Our collective, offers a unique blend of skills ranging from hospice involvement and nursing to coaching, social work, and nutrition, ensuring that every aspect of end-of-life care is approached with sensitivity and expertise.

Our Train the Trainer Program is distinct in its capacity to deeply engage with hospices, palliative care units, hospitals, and senior communities. It does more than impart crucial skills for facilitating a dignified end-of-life experience; it fosters a supportive network dedicated to shared growth and a like-minded community. By integrating curriculum into policy, caregivers, and employees will feel empowered to contribute to an environment that supports limiting compassion fatigue and enhance the quality of care for residents, families, and employees.

The background and experience of these groups add depth to our network who are all committed to providing dignified and the highest quality of care. The GPDC provides ongoing opportunities to learn and grow with other end-of-life doulas and professionals.

The GPDC Train the Trainer Program as End of Life Doulas represents an opportunity for facilities to support staff, residents, and their families by using a shared language, support, and policy that supports the quality of life for all. By bridging the gaps in traditional care models and fostering leaders in the end-of-life community, we are making strides towards a future where every individual can approach life’s final frontier with dignity, surrounded by love and support. Join us in our mission to make a profound and lasting impact on end-of-life care, one trained caregiver at a time.
